Stop 5: Battle of Yorktown
Welcome to your fourth stop, Yorktown! Yorktown was a very historical place. The battle of Yorktown occurred here. This was the last battle and it transpired on September 28 to October 19, 1781. It was the Americans and French against the French. 8800 Americans, 7800 French, and 6000 British...we fought long and hard. Both the armies were armed and ready to fight, however, the Americans won.
Modern Day: Yorktown is now a modern day cemetery in Virginia. This is home to 2,183 of those killed in the American Civil Way. There are offered guided tours about an hour long. This is now a focal point of the Yorktown Battlefield section of the Colonial Historical Park.
